Buildability Score methodology
Every app page includes a Buildability Score from 0-100%. This is an editorial assessment, not a mathematical formula, of how realistic and sensible it is for an average user to build and maintain a simpler replacement using current AI-building tools.
What the score answers
How realistic and sensible is it for an average user to build and maintain a simpler replacement using current AI-building tools?
Factors we consider
- Core feature complexity
- External integrations required
- Authentication complexity
- Database requirements
- Security and privacy risk
- Infrastructure requirements
- Maintenance burden
- Cost to operate
- How much of the original product an average user actually needs
- Reliability requirements
Score interpretation
- 90-100: Extremely buildable
- 75-89: Very buildable
- 60-74: Buildable with caveats
- 40-59: Difficult / situational
- 20-39: Usually not worth it
- 0-19: Don't build this
Important notes
We assess whether you can replace the useful 20%, the subset of features most users actually need, not whether AI can reproduce every feature a mature SaaS product offers.
A low score is valuable content. When we say "keep paying for it," we mean it. That independence is what makes our positive verdicts credible.
